This university-level honors course, titled American Citizenship and Community Service (HONR 1010), is a three-semester hour academic credit opportunity, eligible for transfer to any university program that you choose to attend post-high school.

New this year is the eligibility to also earn a Certificate in Leadership, Citizenship and Civic Engagement. This is fully explained on the web site and can be accomplished by student over the next year as they proceed to graduation from high school in 2018. A pre-requisite for the certificate is that they be participants in a national leadership education program such as Boy or Girls State.

Eligibility: Youth Leadership Development Programs nationwide are welcome to have their members/participants apply for this unique educational opportunity. Typical leadership development organizations already approved include American Legion Boy State; American Legion Auxiliary Girls State; JROTC, Future Farmers of America; 4-H; Boy Scouts of America; Girl Scots of America, DeMolay International; Civil Air Patrol; Young Marines; U.S. Sea Cadets Corps; Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conferences; National Honor Society; Future Business Leaders of America; High School Student Council; Rotary Youth Leadership Awards; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America;…etc.

Certificate Requirement: Whereas a student may take one, two or three courses; successful completion of all four leads to a
ULM Certificate in Leadership, Citizenship and Civic Engagement
in as few as two academic sessions.
