By Mia Fredericks – City of Palo Verde

Attention all 60,000 citizens of Palo Verde, the results of the 2020 Palo Verde election are in, and trust me you will be excited!  Your newly elected mayor is Ms. Brown. Mayor Brown has some exciting plans for the future of Palo Verde, and we can’t wait to see the results of all her hard work. One of Mayor Brown’s ideas is to develop a new city crest!

In addition to the results from the mayoral race, we have the winners from the city elections to share with you.  Underneath the leadership of Mayor Brown, we have a new city clerk, Ms. Whitther.  The new city councilmen, Ms. Laibe, swore Mayor Brown and Ms. Whitther into office at approximately 11:30 A.M. on June 23rd.

At the Palo Verde city wide meeting, citizens also established both the budget, and planning and zoning committees. These committees are instrumental in ensuring smooth and successful execution of city operations. Specifically, the budget committee, ran by Ms. Swapp, is responsible for documenting the total expenditures, total receipts, and implementing this data to find how much money the city must collect in taxes to be able to pay the adequate bills.

The planning and zoning committee, which is now under the leadership of Ms. Axen, will guide the development of Palo Verde in a manner that protects our unique characteristics, environment, while building the economy. Both of these committees have received prior instruction earlier in the day, through observing the plans set forth by the city of Tucson.

June twenty third,  will prove to be a remarkable day in Palo Verde history, as we are seeing many accomplished leaders being elected into our city government.

Elections and smooth sailing in Palo Verde
