Girls State Mission Statement

The American Legion Auxiliary Arizona Girls State is a week long program designed to educate young women entering their Senior Year in high school in functions of their government, instruct them in the duties, privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship and of democracy, respect for their country, price of citizenship, sense of obligation to community, state and nation and the desire to actively participate in and responsibly fulfill their roles as citizens. By the end of the Girls State week, through inspiration and education, each delegate will be empowered to return to her own community to shoulder the responsibility of leadership in rekindling the flame of patriotism through personal example and by raising in others a new awareness of the process of Americanism.

Girls State Creed

I am an American. I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America – which gives me the right to worship God as I choose and an equal opportunity and educational rights. I am obligated to participate in and contribute to the Civil and political welfare of my community, state and nation. I promise to learn and understand government and the needs of my community and I dedicate myself to arousing and maintaining this interest in my fellow citizens. May this experience of Girls State ever remind me of my obligation to my country.
