After yesterday’s City Elections many individuals still had other positions to run for. Some might have felt comfortable with their appointed positions, however some felt it in them to run for county and state positions. With that being said, there was a lot of campaigning to do.
The process of nominating and campaigning was a multiple step situation that took a lot of time and dedication. All the girls got together and were able to spread their voices about the position they wanted. Each and every girl had a bright aura to them that allowed the whole process to be enjoyable and entertaining.
During the time that was put towards campaigning, I was able to take a step back and look at each candidate in a different perspective. Going around asking about what their plans and ideas are for their position gave an idea of who is truly in it to win it.
Even though this whole opportunity is a fake scenario, some are taking it more seriously than others. Competition is in the air and it is thick. Everyone wants to win but not everyone can.
While the other candidates were campaigning, I was also taking time to get my name and my wanted position out in the open. Talking and getting to know the other girls was important, not just for elections but also because it grew our interpersonal skills.
Getting the opportunity to get a better and deeper understanding of how the government works is critical. Not many individuals have the chance or want to get more involved with the government. After this week, it is easy to tell that not only will all of these girls be involved but will also successfully have a role in leadership.
