Mia Fredericks – City of Palo Verde

Another amazing day of Arizona Girls State has come and passed, and there is a record amount of activity occurring around the 51st mythical state. To begin the day, each citizen crafted a poppy, while we learned what the red poppy symbolizes. The red poppy is a representation of the sacrifice of service made by our veterans. Additionally, on Memorial and Veterans day, millions of these poppies are dispersed throughout America to honor the veterans. As a citizen of the 51st mythical state, I ask you to give your poppy to a veteran you know!

In local news, the city of Palo Verde was able to collaborate with our sister city, Cholla, which makes up Supai county. Yesterday’s amazing city elections were followed with today’s election of county officials. The races were fierce, with 22  Supai county citizens running for the position of County Sheriff. At the county meeting, designs for the county seal were discussed, and citizens wanted the seal to be symbolic of the area’s unique characteristics.

Today’s Palo Verde meeting was called to order at 11:39 A. M by Mayor Brown. The first item on the agenda was to finalize the Palo Verde Seal.  Citizen Eileen unveiled her amazing seal for our city.  Mayor Brown executed the elections to determine the Palo Verde representatives for the statewide governor and secretary of state races. Make sure to follow along for more updates on this remarkable election race!
