Emily Shanafelt – Palo Verde City Reporter

With every election, there are winners and losers. It’s an obvious fact, but one that is rarely discussed.

That’s why today’s report is all about what happens when you lose an election. It can bring up a whole host of emotions like disappointment, anger, embarrassment, or even confusion that can discourage you from running in future elections.

However, I strongly believe that losing is just as valuable as winning because it gives you a more determined mindset.

At first after losing, you might feel knocked off your feet and hesitant to try again. But then, you can come to the realization that the outcome of an election is not a reflection of your self-worth.

When confronted by a roadblock, your dreams should not be shaken. Instead, you should find your true passion, and channel it to find the courage to continue.

I was speaking with other girls during our meet-and-greet time and identified a general consensus: losing an election can be disheartening, but you are not the only one going through it, and even though you lost, there are lots of girls here supporting you for who you are. You should feel proud of yourself, whether you win or lose.
